The Union Minister for Labour & Employment, Steel and Mines, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar has presented the National Safety Council (NSCI) Awards for the year 2013 in Mumbai today.
Addressing on the occasion, Shri Tomar said that the coordination between labour and capital is the demand of the time. We have to ensure that increase of production and the welfare of labourers should go together. He said that the Government has introduced three important bills in the last session of Parliament and our efforts will continue. He said that these awards will ensure safety at the work place in the three important sectors of our economy, namely manufacturing sector, construction sector and MSME sector.
The NSCI Safety Awards are much coveted national level Awards in the field of Workplace Safety, Health and Environment and are given in recognition of establishing effective Safety Management System and excellent safety & health performance by the organizations in Manufacturing, Construction and MSME Sectors during the relevant assessment periods.
These Awards are adjudged and declared every year by National Safety Council, an autonomous organization set up by the Minister of Labour, Government of India. Altogether 85 organisations have won the awards in four awards categories - Sarva Shreshtha Puraskar, Shreshtha Puraskar, Suraksha Puraskar and Prashansa Patra. While M/s. Tarapur Atomic Power Station, Unit 3 & 4 of NPCIL is the top award winner in Manufacturing Sector (Group C - Power Generation); Kakrapar Atomic Power Project 3 & 4 of M/s. Larsen & Toubro Ltd., Infrastructure IC is the winner in Construction Sector. M/s. Elin Appliances Pvt. Ltd., Solan, Himachal Pradesh has won the top level Sarva Shreshtha Puraskar in MSME Sector.
