Shri Nitin Gadkari extends Prime Minister's invitation to the Egyptian President for 3rd India-Africa Forum Summit in October 2015
Union Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari called on the Egyptian President Mr. Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi in Cairo today. President Sisi extended a warm welcome to Shri Gadkari and underlined the importance his Government attached to the time- tested Indo-Egyptian relations. Shri Gadkari congratulated the leadership of President Sisi on the completion of the New Suez Canal, to be formally inaugurated tomorrow, and described it as a great achievement which would further promote economic development of Egypt and the region. He also handed over to him Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's letter inviting him to visit India for the 3rd India-Africa Forum Summit in October 2015.
Shri Gadkari informed President Sisi that Shri Modi was personally very keen to meet him and the 3rd India-Africa Forum Summit, would be an occasion not only for expanding regional cooperation but also for taking India-Egypt bilateral partnership to a new high.
President Sisi recalled the long history of close Indo-Egyptian relations and said that he was very impressed by recent economic developments in India which he said could be a model for other developing countries like Egypt. President Sisi hoped that there would be further closer cooperation between the two countries in various areas and reiterated his commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations between the two friendly nations. He told Shri Gadkari to convey his warm greetings to Shri Modi.
Shri Gadkari will be representing India at tomorrow's opening ceremony of the New Suez Canal on behalf of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
