Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh has said that spiritual development is as essential for a society as is materialistic growth. Addressing the 112th convocation of Gurukul Kangri University at Haridwar in Uttarakhand today, the Home Minister said that without spiritual development, the happiness cannot be long lasting.
Shri Rajnath Singh emphasized the role of Gurukuls in India. He said the Gurukuls have been engaged in producing disciplined people who have benefitted the society in many ways.
On this occasion, Shri Rajnath Singh gave away about 400 degrees and awarded gold medals to 40 students for their outstanding performance in different streams of study.
Shri Rajnath Singh himself was awarded honoris de cosa 'Vidya Martand' on the occasion by the Chancellor of the University, Dr. Ram Prakash. Besides the Vice Chancellor Dr. Surendra Kumar, local MP, Dr. Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank were also present on the occasion.
