Shri Sadananda Gowda has taken charge as the Union Minister for Law & Justice. Briefly interacting with the newsmen on the occasion this afternoon, the Minister said efforts will be made to bring in efficient delivery of justice by bringing down litigations. He said there is also an effort to reduce the number of legislations and as a part of this drive 287 Acts have been identified as redundant and are to be annulled. 36 obsolete enactments have already been annulled. The Minister said that he would write letters to the States seeking ratifications of the Judicial Appointments Commission Bill. It was informed that three States have already given their consent for the Bill.
