SDMC and NBCC sign MoU for execution of Rs.525 cr project

South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has set the process rolling for acquiring its own state-of-the-art office building at I.P.Estate in the national capital.

SDMC today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this regard for construction of its headquarters at an estimated cost of about Rs.525 cr over a five acre land. Dr.Puneet Goel, Commissioner, SDMC and Shri A.K.Mittal, CMD of NBCC signed the MoU.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Minister of Urban Development Shri M.Venkaiah Naidu, Minister of Railways Shri Suresh Prabhu and SDMC Mayor Smt.Kamaljeet Sherawat.

The proposed modern steel and glass building with an open up view to the River Yamuna would be an iconic green building with 3-star GRIHA Rating with incorporation of maximum smart features.

With two level basements with seamless connectivity with City Tunnel, the building will have the following green features:

-Zero waste discharge
-Solar power generation to meet about 6% of energy needs
-Real time response to climatic day light and functional variation
-Automated controls for efficiency through use of sensors
-Grey water recycling
-Rain water harvesting
-Low energy consumption
-Use of automated shades to reduce day light energy
-Use of water efficient fixtures etc.
Dr.Puneet Goel, Commissioner of SDMC said the proposed is building is being targeted to be constructed in about two years.
