Standing Committee for Tribal Welfare Reconstituted
Standing Committee for Tribal Welfare (SCTW) of the Ministry of Tribal Welfare has been reconstituted with the Cabinet Minister as its Chairman and Minister of State as Vice Chairman. The other members of the committee are Ministers of Tribal Welfare of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura.
Finance Secretary, Home Secretary, Secretary Ministry of Environment & Forest, Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Secretary Ministry of HRD, Secretary Ministry of Rural Development, Secretary Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Secretary Ministry of Women and Child Development, Secretary Ministry of Culture will be the other members. Secretary Ministry of Tribal Affairs will be member Secretary.
Prof. TV Kattimani, Vice Chancellor of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak, Madhya Pradesh and Prof. (DR.) Karma Oraon, Head of Department of Anthropology, Ranchi University, Ranchi has been nominated as expert members for a period of two years.
Standing Committee would deliberate and recommend agenda for discussion at National Council for Tribal Welfare to provide broad policy guidelines to bring about improvement in lives of Scheduled Tribes community in the country, Review implementation of Forest Right Act, Review implementation of Fifth Schedule and Sixth Schedule of Constitution, Monitor implementation of Tribal Sub Plan and Monitor programme aimed at protecting vulnerable tribal groups.
