Tikhor park to be set up in Guwahati and Shillong

Organizing Committee of 12th South Asian Games has earmarked Rs 2 Crore for Tikhor Parks (Games Mascot) to be set up in Guwahati and Shillong. In a unique initiative of Organizing Committee ,Tikhor Parks are being proposed to be set up to preserve the legacy of the 12th South Asian Games held recently in Guwahati and Shillong. It is proposed that these parks would be set up at Guwahati University and NEHU, Shillong, Rs 2 Crore earmarked by Chairman OC-SAG Shri Sarbananda Sonowal
The Executive Committee of 12th OC, SAG-2016, at Guwahati has decided that the legacy of the Games needs to be preserved and the Tikhor (Mascot) Park may be set up at Guwahati University and NEHU, Shillong, in commemoration of the Games. In pursuance of the above mentioned decision, it was decided to earmark Rs. 2 crore out of the savings of SAG-2016 (including contributions by CPSUs) for this purpose, which has been approved by Chairman, OC SAG and Union MoS (I/C) Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Shri Sarbananda Sonowal.
