Personnel deployed in National disaster Response Force (NDRF) are being trained in different trainings/courses through various institutes in the country. Basic Disaster Management training is being imparted in the NDRF battalions and the advance courses are being run at the institutes of Central Armed Police forces(CAPFs) i.e. Border Security Force Institute of Disaster Response (BIDR) at Tekanpur, National Industrial Security Academy (NISA) at Hyderabad, Central Training Collage (CTC-II) at Coimbatore and National Institute for Training in Search Rescue & Disaster Response (NTSRDR) at Chandigarh. Specialized training of NDRF personnel are being conducted in Bhaba Atomic research Centre, Indian navy, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Darjeeling etc.
There is no exclusive training centre for NDRF.
A proposal of NDMA to establish an institute i.e. National disaster Response Academy (NDRA) at Nagpur for providing advanced & specialized training in disaster Management to National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Response force is under consideration in the Ministry.
This was stated by Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Shri Kiren Rijiju in Lok Sabha today.
