Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy has said that the Government has introduced Integrated Skill Development Scheme (ISDS) as a pilot scheme in the last two years of the 11th plan with an outlay of Rs. 272 crores including Rs. 229 as Government share with a view to addressing the trained manpower needs across all the segment of the textile and related sector by training people including 1,49,714 women until 31st December, 2014. The Scheme has also been further scaled up during 12th Plan with an allocation of Rs. 1900 crore to train 15 lakh persons. The scheme is being implemented across the country and release of fund is made directly to Implementing Agencies.
In a written reply in the Lok Sabha today Shri Rudy said, the Integrated Handlooms Development Scheme (IHDS) has been merged with the National Handloom Development Programme (NHDP) for implementation from December 2003. However, IHDP was implemented through State Governments during 2011-12 to 2013-14 in which 90 clusters and 460 group approach projects had been sanctioned.
