Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has undertaken several Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) projects like:-
Indigenous development of Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) UAV & Development of Aeronauical Test Range at Chitradurga (Rustom-II).
UAV Nishant.
Wheeled version of Nishant UAV Panchi.
Lead in Project for Development of Naval Rotary Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (NRUAV).
Technology Initiative for the development of MALE UAV (Rustom-I).
Nishant UAVs are useful for reconnaissance and monitoring of Naxal / terrorist infested areas. The same was demonstrated (Nishant-UAV) to CRPF at Jagdalpur, Chattisgarh in February 2015.
A 2 Kg class vehicle developed by DRDO was demonstrated to various security agencies, like Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), National Security Guard (NSG), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). These vehicles have been appreciated by them for internal security.
