UP Irrigation Minister Urges Uma Bharti to Intervene in Bansagar Issue
Irrigation and Water Resources Minister of Uttar Pradesh Shri Shivpal Singh Yadav has urged Union Minister for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Sushri Uma Bharti to direct Madhya Pradesh Government to immediately release 2000 cusecs of water from Bansagar dam for two months into Sone river against the due share of U.P. i.e. one Million Acre-Feet. Sushri Bharti has promised to look into the matter. The Union Water Resources Minister told Shri Yadav that proposal of setting up rubber dams in the tributaries of Ganga and along its ghats is welcome one and the State should submit detailed proposal in this regard. She said her Ministry is ready to set up such dams in five-six cities of the State initially. Referring to the proposals sent by the State Government to tap Sisa Mau drain of Kanpur the Minister said a group of experts from IIT Roorkee will examine them and recommend the best options to the Ministry. Sushri Bharti thanked the UP Minister for the assistance extended by the State Government to various projects of her Ministry under Clean Ganga Mission.
