Vocational Training Institutes in Rural Areas
Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy has said that there is a network of 12,106 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) (Govt.- 2,285 and Private- 9,821) affiliated to National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) under the Directorate General of Training (DGT), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. These ITIs are located in rural and urban areas. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha today Shri Rudy said, besides, to promote private training providers across the Country, Government has set up the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) as a public private entity. As on 30th June, 2015, the 211 NSDC affiliated training partners, have 3669 operational training centres, including 745 mobile centres across the Country. Many of these centres are located in the rural areas.
Setting-up of new ITIs and skill training centres is a continuous process, Shri Rudy added.
