WCD Ministry has launched POCSO e-box for direct online reporting of child sexual abuse cases: Smt Maneka Sanjay Gandhi
As per Crime in India 2014 and 2015 compiled by National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), the number of cases reported under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act,2012 (POCSO) were 8904 and 14913 during 2014 and 2015 respectively.
POCSO e-box was launched on 26th August 2016 for direct online reporting of child sexual abuse cases to National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR). During the period from 26.08.2016 to 11.11.2016, NCPCR has received 107 hits on POCSO e-box, out of which 10 cases of POCSO related complaints have been received on e-box. For awareness generation about the POCSO e box several initiatives have been taken including advertisements on TV, Radio and print media. In addition to this, letters have been sent to all Chief Ministers / Chief Secretaries / DGPs / State Education Secretaries /SCPCRs/ Education Boards on POCSO e-box.
