At least 22 people have been killed, mostly women, and 40 others injured in a deadly suicide blast through a Muharram procession in Lashari Muhalla in Jacobabad in Pakistan.

According to the Dawn, the army took over the town soon after the incident.

An emergency was declared in all hospitals of the town and announcements were made through mosques and Imambargahs for donation of blood.

According to sources, the suicide attack took place when the mourning procession was returning from Shershah-Jo-Per to Quetta Road in Lashari Muhalla.

In was the second deadliest bombing in upper Sindh in Pakistan.

On January 30, an explosion at a Shia mosque in Shikarpur killed 61 people and injured over 60 others.
