Bobby Jindal plans to run for US presidency

Jindal's second term as the Lousiana Governor ends in 2015. He can't run for the third term

Top Republican leader and current Governor of Louisiana Bobby Jindal is planning to run for the US presidency in 2016, a top Senator from his home state confirmed on Monday.

Senator David Vitter told  private American TV channel C-SPAN's Newsmakers programme in an interview: “I do think, he (Jindal) will run. He would be a significant candidate.”

He went on to say: “I like Bobby, I respect his leadership, I agree with all of his political values. But I haven't thought about what I would do or wouldn't do personally.”

WHO IS  BOBBY JINDAL?
  • Currently the Governor of Louisiana
  • Graduated from Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar
  • Initially worked as a consultant and advisor for McKinsey and Company
  • Second Indian American to be elected to the Congress in 2004
  • Elected Governor of Louisiana with 54%of the vote in the primary in 2007
  • Known to be politically conservative opposing abortion & same-sex marriage

  Vitter said he thinks the development is obvious to everybody who has been paying attention and believes Jindal was fit to be president of the US.   

Jindal's second term as the Lousiana governor ends in 2015. He can’t run for the third term.

Vitter, on the other hand, is considering running for governor. “I would expect we will come to a conclusion sometime in January,” he said.
