"Do you all remember how beautiful and safe a place Brussels was. Not anymore, it is from a different world! US must be vigilant and smart!"

Donald Trump thundered on Twitter, moments after news emerged of serial blasts at the Brussels airport. For Donald Trump, who has crafted his Presidential campaign in the US on sharp rhetoric against open borders policy for refugees, Muslims and the present government's soft approach to terror, the latest attacks have come as a major boost to his attempts to polarise the electorate further.

And if this was not enough, he did not forget to link the attacks to Muslim refugees and migrants from the Middle East who have flooded into Europe due to the crisis in Syria.

"It's going to get worse and worse. In my opinion, this is just the beginning. It will get worse and worse because we are lax and we are foolish -- we can't allow these people, at this point we cannot allow these people to come into our country. I'm sorry," he said. "This is a story that just seems to be more and more happening and it's really not very pretty to watch."

Speaking to CNN'S Anderson Cooper, Trump said, "If you have a neighborhood where there's a high level of gang activity, the way to prevent it is you increase the law enforcement presence there and you target the gang members to get them off the streets"

Speaking to NBC's 'Today'show, Donald Trump touched on the controversial method of waterboarding - a torture mechanism used in the past by the US army that came for widespread scrutiny. "Well I'm not looking to break any news on your show, but frankly the waterboarding, if it was up to me, and if we changed the laws or have the laws, waterboarding would be fine," the Republican front-runner said and further added, "I would say they should be able to do whatever they have to do."

Targeting President Barack Obama who was in Cuba when the attacks took place, Trump reminded that the time is past and there is not need to be politically correct.

Further playing on the insecurities of a nation that has faced terror attacks before and lives under its shadow, Trump said, "If you went into Brussels 20 years ago, it was like a magical city. Now you look at it, it's an armed camp,"

"You want to lead your life, you don't want to be living in an armed camp for your whole life. And there is a certain group of people that is making living a normal life impossible," warned Trump.

Trump also took to Twitter to target his main rival from the Democrats, Hillary Clinton, calling her 'incompetent'.

According to CNN's latest projection late Tuesday evening, Donald Trump has won the Arizona Republican primary, while  Hillary Clinton has won the Arizona Democratic primary.
