China's foreign trade fell again in March, even as businesses returned to work after a lockdown in the aftermatch of the coronavirus outbreak, with the pandemic weighing on the outlook of the manufacturing powerhouse.
China's exports fell 6.6 per cent in March from a year earlier and imports dropped 0.9 per cent, according to Customs data released on Tuesday. The contraction was less than a Bloomberg economist forecast that had predicted a decline of 10 per cent or more in both figures, and well below the 17.2 per cent plunge seen in exports in the first two months of the year.
