A recent survey by Pew Research Center has pointed to why Facebook is buying WhatsApp for a mind-boggling $19 billion - emerging nations are catching up with Americans in terms use of technology and social media. AppAnnie , a global business intelligence company and analyst firm, says WhatsApp is the No. 1 app in major mobile emerging markets such as India and Brazil, and is among the top 10 in countries across Europe and Asia. WhatsApp is projected to have a billion users by 2015, and the countries driving that growth are in South America, Europe and Asia, where Facebook use has been growing slowly.
