Blake Lemoine made headlines after being suspended from Google, following his claims that an artificial intelligence bot had become sentient.

The Alphabet-run AI development team put him on paid leave for breaching company policy by sharing confidential information about the project, he said in a Medium post. For months, Lemoine had tussled with Google managers, executives and human resources over his surprising claim that the company’s Language Model for Dialogue Applications, or LaMDA, had consciousness and a soul
