Gunmen shoots Karachi educationist

The attack came even as the government of Sindh imposed a ban on pillion riding in Karachi in a bid to prevent such attacks

A reputed educationist was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in this southern Pakistani port city today, with police describing it as a case of targeted killing.

Javed Iqbal Qazi, who was Dean of Medicine at Karachi Medical and Dental College, was attacked by four armed men riding two motorcycles as his car was leaving the college campus in North Nazimabad.

Qazi was injured and died later in hospital. His driver was also injured and is in a critical condition with two bullet wounds, police said.

The attack came even as the government of Sindh province imposed a ban on pillion riding in Karachi in a bid to prevent such attacks.
