Lawmakers in Iceland have reportedly filed a proposal to grant citizenship to NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden in the nation but with a minimal support from parliamentarians.
Snowden, who has been stuck up at Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport due to a revoked passport and an indecisive Russian government, has reportedly filed for asylum claim to more than 20 nations but over a dozen have rejected his request fearing backlash from US authorities.
According to Fox News, if Snowden wishes to claim for an asylum in Iceland, he must reach the nation's soil which appears to be a thin possibility with a revoked passport.
Granting Snowden citizenship would ease the issue of finding a supportive nation, however, the bill to grant him citizenship received limited support with only six members of minority parties in favor out of a total of 63 members.
