US Internet security guru John McAfee was rushed to hospital in Guatemala with "heart problems," his lawyers said, after authorities said he would be deported to Belize over a murder probe.
McAfee, who had been on the run for weeks from Belizean authorities, applied for asylum in Guatemala after fleeing across the border at the weekend, but that request was rejected. He is wanted for questioning over the murder last month of his American ex-pat neighbour in Belize.
"He says he feels fine. They prescribed medication and he is taking it," said lawyer Telesforo Guerra. He said McAfee suffered two heart attacks early yesterday, although doctors have yet to issue an official medical report.
Another lawyer for McAfee, Karla Paz, said he was admitted because of "heart problems" and chest pains.
