US First Lady Michelle Obama stole the show on the first day of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, moving delegates to tears with her passionate speech. Linking the historic nature of Hillary Clinton's campaign with her husband's own role as the first black US President, she said, "And because of Hillary Clinton, my daughters and all our sons and daughters" believe that a woman can be President of the United States.
