Sean Spicer apologises after outrage over his Hitler-chemical weapons gaffe

While condemning Assad, Spicer said that even Hitler had not used chemical weapons

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer apologised on Tuesday after saying Adolf Hitler did not use chemical weapons during World War II, a media report said.

In an effort to shame Russia's alliance with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his use of chemical weapons, Spicer, while talking to the press had said that Hitler "didn't even sink to using chemical weapons" during World War II, almost immediately attracting criticism from the journalists.

The comment was immediately decried and after a series of attempts to clear up his words, Spicer apologised in an exclusive interview with CNN.
