Rishi Sunak, the Conservative Party MP, will take over as the prime minister of the UK on Tuesday. He was declared the leader of the Conservative Party on Monday.

Sunak, a former chancellor of the exchequer, succeeds Liz Truss, who will chair her last cabinet meeting as prime minister on Tuesday before she leaves. She remained the PM of the UK for only 44 days.
