Chasing a target of 140 runs, Chennai Super Kings won the match by 2 wickets and sealed their berth in the final, thanks to the wonderful batting by Faf du Plessis. Faf made 67 runs off 42 balls and finished the match with a massive six.
Chennai Super Kings bowlers utilized the bowler-friendly conditions and clinched early wickets dismissing Shikhar Dhawan as well as skipper Kane Williamson within the first 5 overs. Sunrisers Hyderabad stood at 47 for 6 after 6 overs.
Late into the 18th over Carlos Brathwaite hit Shradul Thakur for two sixes and fours scoring 20 runs off the over, helping them reach a target of 139 runs at the end of the 20 overs.
Chennai Super Kings were off to a bad start after their batsmen were caught clueless by effective swing bowling of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and some handy spin by Rashid Khan and Shakib Al Hasan restricting them to 66/6 ad the end of the 13th over.
Sunrisers Hyderabad were in the driving seat for the first 17 overs but lost the match in the last 3. Shradul Thakur played cameo innings of 15 runs off5 balls. Du Plessis finished the match with a six down the ground on the first ball of the last over and led them to victory.
