517 IIM-L students awarded diplomas

Amid a challenging economic environment, 517 students of Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow were awarded diplomas at the 26th annual convocation ceremony.

The diplomas were given away by IIM-L director Devi Singh and C Rangarajan, Chairman, Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council. As graduates, they would swell the ranks of about 4500+ IIM-L alumni.

Those receiving diplomas, included 364 students from the 26th batch of PG programme in management, 21 students from the 7th batch of in agri-business management, 7 students from the Doctoral programme; along with 58 students from in management for working executives and 67 students from international programme in management for executives from the Noida campus.

 

Dr Singh urged the graduating students to set out with a vision of what they wanted to create and achieve.

In his convocation address, Dr Rangarajan welcomed the graduating students as the next generation of leaders and managers. He provided them with prospects for the Indian economy, the beginning of reform process, trends in growth, potential growth, macroeconomic concerns, sectoral constraints and need for high growth.

IIM-L recognises research and consultancy as a thrust area, driving socially relevant research and consultancy projects in agriculture, entrepreneurship, health management, education, IT and rural development.

During the year, 30 new consultancy assignments were initiated, 21 assignments were in progress and nine assignments completed.

The Centre for Food and Agribusiness Management had conducted two Management Development Programmes on Rural Development for Afro Asian Rural Development Organisation with about 34 foreign participants from various African and other countries including China.

IIM-L had conducted 124 programmes, including six Advanced Management Programme modules with an overseas learning component, wherein over 2,975 executives had participated.

Later, Dr Rangarajan also called upon Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and discussed issues of economic development.
