The Indian Institute of Materials Management (IIMM), Mysore branch, will conduct a one-day workshop in Mysore today (Saturday) on 'Developing Supply Strategies' with the chief objective of 'Buying Into Competitiveness'.
 
The workshop is based on the highly effective modular learning system (MLS) in international purchasing and supply management, supported by the international trading centre (ITC), Geneva, Switzerland.
 
It is a comprehensive training pack covering purchasing and supply management in 12 core modules, including purchasing and supply strategy, HMLN analysis, supplier protection model, supply positioning model and purchasing and supply objectives.
 
Strategies for different categories of products/services and selection of vendors are assuming importance in the present industrial scenario. Developing and using different supply strategies for different types of purchases helps a company spend its precious time and effort where it is most needed and achieve best results.
 
In the background of this, issues like framework for supply strategy "" supplier relationship and contract types, supply strategies relating to routine and leverage items, bottlenecks and commodities will be taken up for analysis, along with case studies, during the deliberations, IIMM Mysore branch chairman Ashok Belle told Business Standard.
