IIM KOZHIKODE: Neurotrans Buzz

If getting neurotransmitters buzzing (legally, that is) was the idea of Synapse 2005, IIM-Kozhikode's just-held marketing seminar, it is reported to be a success.

Hemant Mallik of ITC Foods explained how Sunfeast was leveraging a diverse range of ITC competences, R. Balakrishnan of Lowe made much of his ad "simplicity", Harish Bijoor of Bijoor Consultants Inc roused people to go figure rural India out, and Sandeep Budhiraja of AC Nielsen ORG-MARG took everyone on a dare-to-be-different "cult brand" trip.

ISB HYDERABAD: Indus Freed

For those who accuse Indian B-schools of ignoring entrepreneurship, here's news. On 28 July 2005, ISB Hyderabad is hosting a conference in association with The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) to establish a mutually thought provoking "connect" with some of Silicon Valley's sharpest minds. Among them: Achal Ghai of Avigo Ventures and Raju Reddy of Sierra Atlantic. Students also look foward to the "Elevator Pitch" session that will have them pitching forth their own ideas to Venture Capitalists (VCs) in attendance.

IMI Delhi: Another K Word

Delhi's International Management Institute (IMI) has just concluded a workshop on Knowledge Management (KM), which is all the rage in many business education circles.

Apart from working out what KM really is and what it is not, the two-day workshop also had a series of talks on the actual practice of the theory. There were participants from Hero Honda, UTI, NTPC, SAIL, IOC, TISCO, NIIT, Bharti Telecom and several other organisations.

WIM MUMBAI: Ally, ally, ally

Mumbai's Welingkar Institute of Management (WIM) has struck, and struck again, though not twice at the same place. It has announced tie-ups with America's Fox School of Business & Management, Temple University, and the UK's Newcastle Business School, Northumbria University, for undergrad courses in Business Management. The charm of "global exposure" is still nowhere near wearing thin with students. That's good.
