The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) today declared the Common Admission Test (CAT) results for 2013. This year, eight candidates scored 100 percentile, and all were male.

Among girls, officials said that only one female candidate scored 99.9 percentile. With respect to the different regions, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra (Mumbai) followed by Delhi were on the top with respect to 100 percentile scores.

Approximately 1,93,500 total candidates appeared in the 25-day testing window, from October 16 to November 11.

Post evaluation of the CAT scores, the final selection is based on the performance in the Written Ability Test (WAT), Personal Interview (PI) and Group Discussion (GD). Other factors like past academic records, work experience, gender and stream of graduation is also taken into account by IIMs.

IIM Calcutta for instance allots some points to female candidates, in an endeavour to attract women students. IIM Raipur has additional points for students having relevant work experience of 7 months to up to 3 years.

The ranking and final selection at IIM Ahmedabad is based on a diverse set of attributes which includes performance in CAT, performance in WA-PI, academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular achievements and work experience.

The six new IIMs (Kashipur, Raipur, Ranchi, Rohtak, Trichy and Udaipur) have decided to adopt a common process of WAT and PI this year, whcih will be coordinated by IIM Trichy.

In case any of the older IIMs (Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Kozhikode and Luck now) are willing to share their WAT and PI scores with the six new IIMs, the common candidates who have applied to new IIMs, need not to appear for WAT and PI process separately, else they have to appear. The common candidates will be intimated the names of older IIMs sharing WAT and PI scores with new IIMs in due course of time.
