After closing the credit controversy surrounding the popular Aamir Khan-starrer 3 Idiots, Chetan Bhagat made a visit to his alma mater, the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A), today. The visit resulted in a teacher inviting him as visiting faculty for a day, said Bhagat, whose book Five Point Someone inspired the film.

“In Ahmedabad, will drop by IIM around 3:30 pm. Meeting professor A Jaiswal,” Bhagat wrote on networking microsite Twitter. When Bhagat stepped on the campus, his twitter update read, “In IIM-A, omg (oh my God) huge lump in throat. Nostalgia happening....” Anand Jaiswal teaches marketing at IIM-A.

“The Professor invited me as visiting faculty. Will be prof (professor) for a day. Eeps opposite side. Look forward though.”

When contacted, Jaiswal said, “Yes, Chetan Bhagat had visited us as an alumnus today. However, we just had an informal discussion on this, because he is an alumnus and has a good professional background. Moreover, he was also involved in books on marketing strategies. So, I may decide to explore the opportunity of inviting him as a visiting faculty or just to discuss marketing strategies with the students. Nothing has been finalised as of now.”

Bhagat had been upset with the makers of 3 Idiots over not getting due credit for the film’s story. It led to counter-attacks by Aamir Khan, director Rajkumar Hirani and producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
