The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) is likely to approach the top B schools like IIMs for possible tie-ups. CIMA is the membership body that offers an internationally-recognised professional qualification in management accountancy. It is looking for partnerships for research in the discipline. |
CIMA offers a one and a half year course in management accountancy for graduates and post-graduates. The course roughly costs around Rs 1 lakh. CIMA has at least 60-70 students from Gujarat pursuing its course. |
Speaking of CIMA's future plans, Swati Ghangurde, chief representative, CIMA said, "We could be looking for tie-ups with B schools like IIMs but nothing is concrete right now. We will most probably be scouting for tie-ups for research in this field and not for tuitions or exam centres." |
Ghangurde, however, refused to divulge any further information on likely tie-ups with B schools. |
Meanwhile, CIMA is looking for opportunities in cities like Delhi, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Chennai to open tuition centres. Presently, CIMA has only three tuition centres in tie-ups with a couple of colleges in Mumbai and a college in Bangalore. |
With its presence in 161 countries, CIMA has tie-ups with companies like Ernst & Young, PwC and others for outsourcing of CIMA trainees. |
Although CIMA does not have any offices of its own in the country, the body conducts its exams in eight cities including the four metros, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Pune, as well online. |
