A Confucius Institute will be inaugurated in Mumbai University in the new few months, according to Rajpal Hande, Director, Board of Colleges and University Development, Mumbai University. This will be the first Confucius Institute in India.
Confucius Institutes, named after the Chinese philosopher Confucius, are group of non-profit public institutes that seek to promote Chinese language and culture, and support cultural exchanges. The Institute to be set up in Mumbai, is part of the ongoing partnership initiatives between the Mumbai University and the Tianjin University of Technology (TUT).
Speaking at the event, Jianbiao MA, President, TUT said that he was looking for educational partnerships with India and specially Mumbai. He was the part of the delegation visiting Mumbai for partnership opportunities.
Uday Salunkhe, Group Director, Welingkar Education also informed that they were looking to partner with the TUT for multidisciplinary management studies. Mumbai University will look to partner with TUT in the fields of nano-technology and innovation.
