Following the trend of western universities tying up with Indian counterparts to expand their reach in the region, the business school of Coventry University is currently on a recce mission in India to get into partnerships with regional business schools in the north, east, south and west of the country. |
While Coventry Business School (CBS) has already entered into a partnership with Pune Institute of Computer Technology in the west, it has tied up with Globsyn Business School (GBS) in the east. |
The understanding, which would be assessed yearly, provides for students to complete three semesters in India and then join CBS for a stint of nine months that includes a four month internship and a dissertation. |
This would also give students the opportunity to obtain a degree from CBS and a scope to work for companies in Britain or British companies with offices in India. Alternately, students could also study at GBS for three months and at CBS for three months to obtain a diploma in business management. |
Globsyn, which runs its own post graduate diploma in business management, will be taking in 30 students in addition to its regular batch of 120, for the academic session beginning 2007, specially for the CBS course. |
"Students opting for the CBS course will gain financially as they will be paying a year's fees in Indian currency. For the masters in business administration, a student will need to pay Rs 2.5 lakh to Globsyn and £ 6,000 to CBS. In addition to this, a student will have to bear the cost of travel and accommodation, which would come to another £400 per month," said Vikram Dasgupta, chairman, Globsyn group of companies. |
Alternately, for the dual diploma programme, students would have to pay Rs 3.75 lakh to GBS and £3,000 to CBS. |
"The average salary that a student passing out of CBS's undergraduate course in management can expect to earn is £ 19,000 annually. Therefore, the expected salary for an MBA student undergoing this combined course, if he works in UK could be near about £ 25,000 per annum," said Donald Finlay, associate dean, CBS. |
Students who came back to opt for the placements at GBS could expect to earn between Rs 6-7 per annum, said Dasgupta. |
