Rohit Ohri, executive chairman, Dentsu India, and chief executive for Asia-Pacific (South), will relocate to Singapore as chief executive of Dentsu Asia-Pacific (excluding Japan). He would be responsible for promoting the brand in the Asia-Pacific region, the agency said in a statement. In his new role, he will work closely with various country heads in the region.

“This will entail doing a number of things, including new business development, managing key client relationship across markets, understanding the strengths and weakness of Dentsu across countries and helping with acquisitions,” Ohri said.

Ohri, who was with WPP agency JWT for 21 years before joining Dentsu in 2011, will take up his new assignment next week. He will report to Nick Waters, chief executive of Dentsu Aegis Network, Asia-Pacific, as well as Hiroaki Charlie Sano, executive officer of Dentsu Inc.

Ohri’s elevation will pave the way for Ashish Bhasin, chairman and chief executive (South Asia), Dentsu Aegis Network, to take charge of the agency’s Indian operations. It is expected Bhasin will reconstitute Dentsu Aegis Network’s executive committee in India, which includes key personnel from verticals such as media, out-of-home and digital. Now, executives from the advertising vertical will be part of this team.
