ISB Hyderabad will organise a programme in 'Global Manufacturing Excellence'. The programme aims to empower participants with unique top management competencies to develop global manufacturing strategies.

Players: CEOs and senior managers who are involved in making decisions for global manufacturing.
Fee: Rs 1,00,000 or $ 2175 approx.The programme will be held at ISB Hyderabad campus from July 20-23.
 
Food regulation
 
IIM Ahmedabad will conduct a programme in 'Regulations in production and marketing of food products'. Sessions will be held in provisions of the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act, Standards of Weights and Measures Act, Essential Commodities Act, Familiarisation with ISI certification, ISO and HACCP certification, World Trade Organization and food standards.
 
The participants will also be introduced to the new proposed law and the Food Safety and Standards Bill, 2005.

Players: The programme is for middle and senior-level managers in production, quality control, and sales and marketing departments of medium and large organisations.
Fee: Rs 35,000 per participant (US$ 1000 for participants from other countries). The programme will be held at the IIM-A campus from Aug 21-25.
 
Data analysis tips
 
Narsee Monjee Institute of Management and Higher Studies (NMIMS) will organise a three-day management development programme on "Data Analysis Techniques for Decision Making".
 
The objective of the workshop is to familiarise participants with the basic concepts in statistics and decision theory and use the same in solving business problems.

Players: The programme is meant for executives working with data using software like MS Excel. Also for executives working with companies which use data analysis for decision-making.
Fee: Rs. 4,500(inclusive of service-tax) per participant.The programme will be held at the NMIMS campus from July 13-15.
 
Arun Jaitley at LMA
 
The Ludhiana Management Association (LMA) organised a seminar on 'The Unfolding Indian Economic Scenario'. Former law minister Arun Jaitley addressed the seminar and spoke on India's performance vis-à-vis other countries of the world.
 
He said, "Productivity can improve by creating more jobs in manufacturing sector. India's growth rate is improving because of market driven economy and surplus capacities of entrepreneurs. If government's policies support the growth rate it could see a steep increase."
 
Comparing India with China, he said that the reason for China's rapid growth has been their lower taxes which resulted in more business development, enhanced infrastructure, increased productivity and higher margins.
 
"Today if you can offer good quality products at lower prices, you are going to lead the competition," he added.
 
IIM-A gets endowment
 
IIM-A has received an endowment of Rs 1crore by Warburg Pincus, a London-based private equity investor.
 
The amount will be used over the next 10 years by the institute to support the financial needs of students who are unable to afford, fully or partially, the cost of education at IIM-A.
 
The contribution will be used to strengthen the 'Need Based Scholarship Scheme' of the institute.
 
Masters in intl business
 
U21Global, a prominent online graduate school, has launched a master of management in international business (MMIB) programme.
 
The programme will commence in November 2006. Candidates need to complete 12 subjects, with each subject comprising between 120 to 150 hours of study"�approximately 10 to 12 hours per week.
 
The programme is expected to have an average duration of two years and upon completion, will allow students to articulate with full credit to the MBA program.
 
To qualify for admission into the MMIB program, applicants require a first degree from a good university. Work experience is not mandatory. Applicants whose first language is not English will also need an English language qualification (TOEFL or IELTS).
