The Naukri Job Speak index for Chennai in March 2015 was at 1,354, indicating a six per cent increase in the hiring activity.
Among the key sectors, auto, showed an11 per cent year-on-year depreciation in the hiring activity whereas telecom registered an eight per cent year-on-year growth in the same period.
Accounting and IT sectors saw an increase of of 43 per cent and 29 per cent respectively in hiring activities in March 2015 over March 2014 while oil and gas saw an increase of 12 per cent.

Construction and engineering, and insurance registered a decline of 6 per cent and 18 per cent respectively.
Hiring of ITeS professionals saw the maximum increase of six per cent during the period. For consulting and HR, this stood at 27 per cent and 21 per cent more than last year. There was a 19 per cent year-on-year increase in the hiring of banking professionals.
