Buoyed by an increasing number of MBA aspirants from the state, the ICFAI Business School (IBS) is planning to set up two management institutes in Gujarat. |
IBS will set up an institute over 100 acres close to Ahmedabad as well as a smaller institute, which will come up over another 20 acres near the state capital, Gandhinagar. |
"There has been a sharp increase in the number of MBA aspirants, which has gone up from 157 for the 2006-08 batch to over 270 for the 2007-09 batch. The increase in batch size has prompted the institute to consider the establishment of a new campus at Ahmedabad," said P Bala Bhaskaran, director of IBS, Ahmedabad. |
He says the institute expects a 25 per cent increase in the number of applications next year. |
The university, which is headquartered in Hyderabad, runs 19 centres across the country offering courses at bachelor, master and doctoral levels. |
Apart from the existing courses, the university management is planning to introduce a number of new programmes in areas such as finance, marketing, HR and IT. |
The institute officials claim the placements for the class of 2007-08 have been good. "Companies like HDFC bank, Aranca, ICICI bank, Satyam Computers, IFGL Technology, Patni, Reliance Money, Life Insurance,TCS, PepsiCo, Tata AIG among others have approached the institute," said Vivek Ranga, faculty and placement co-ordinator. |
He added they had special tie-ups with tje HDFC Bank for relationship management. |
