Manipal Education which has formed the corporate education initiative- ICICI Manipal Academy (IMA) –with ICICI Bank is expanding this partnership by adding capacity in the academy’s campus in Bangalore.
Under the partnership, Manipal imparts functional knowledge of general management and specialized knowledge of banking related subjects. Programme participants are put through rigorous training with emphasis on application of knowledge and overall development of personality. The training at the academy is supplemented with practical training in various branches of the bank.
The one year post graduate diploma in banking and finance is offered to young assistant managers after they are recruited by the bank. IMA has completed three years and the two stakeholders are now expanding the partnership.
“ICICI is stepping up the partnership by doubling the number of students. As of now, 250-300 students come every three months but now, this number is being increased to 400 and by the next year, it will be 500-600 students per batch,” said Sunil Kishore , Vice President and Head - Corporate Education.
In fact, Manipal says that in the next three years, it will replicating this corporate university model with other companies also. Besides, there will be incremental investment in terms of hostels being setup, academic infrastructure and augmentation of faculty.
“We expect 25 per cent of our revenues to come from corporate education in the next 3-4 years and the business to yield Rs 350-500 crore for us in the next five years,” Kishore added.
