With the Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) yet to finalise a name for the post of Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) director, the current acting director Ajay Pandey has got another extension for three months.

Pandey was appointed as the acting director of the premier management institute in April this year with his term ending on June 30. The delay in appointing a full-time director has resulted in Pandey's extension.

Confirming the development, Pandey, also dean-faculty, said, "The extension came today and it is for three months or as per order, whichever is earlier."

A finance and accounting professor, Pandey completed his Bachelor in Engineering from IIT Roorkee, followed by a fellow program at IIM-A. As a faculty member, Pandey has taught at MDI Gurgaon, ASCI Hyderabad as well as IIM Lucknow (IIM-L).

The decision on the new IIM-A director is still pending with the Union government. According to institute sources, while a suggestion for the director's post has been sent by Human Resource Development (MHRD) to ACC, chaired by the prime minister, the Prime Minister's Office is yet to finalise.

Institute sources added the name of Harvard professor Ashish Nanda has been doing the rounds as the next potential IIM-A director. The institute, however, is yet to receive any intimation from the MHRD or the ACC in this regard.
