With Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) of government of India yet to finalise a name for the post of Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) director, the current acting director Ajay Pandey has got another extension for three months.
Pandey was appointed as the acting director of the premier management institute in April this year with his term ending on June 30. However, the delay in appointing a full-time director has resulted in Pandey's further extension.
Confirming the development, Pandey, also dean-faculty at IIM-A, said, "The extension came today and it is for three months or as per order, whichever is earlier." Pandey was appointed as the acting director of IIM-A institute's incumbent director Samir Barua's extended term had ended on March 31.

However, the decision on the new IIM-A director is still pending with the Union government. According to institute sources, while a suggestive name for the director's post has been sent by Human Resource Development (MHRD) to ACC which is chaired by prime minister, the PMO is yet to approved the same. Institute sources also added that the name of Harvard professor Ashish Nanda has been doing the rounds as the next potential IIM-A director . However, the institute is yet to receive any intimation from the MHRD or the ACC in this regard.
