IIM-A alumni's firms flock to campus to recruit for summer

Continuing their association with the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A), the institute's alumni picked up students for the ongoing summer placements through their companies. The alumni's firms that returned to the campus included Edelweiss Capital and Feedback Ventures.

Co-founded by Rashesh Shah, an IIM-A graduate, Edelweiss Capital recruited close to five interns. Similarly, Feedback Ventures, a firm founded by IIM-A alumni Vinayak Chatterjee and focused on the Infrastructure sector was one of the consulting firms present on the second day (Day 0.5) of summers placements at IIM-A.

It needs to be mentioned here that Rashesh Shah of Edelweiss Capital is one of the 1989 batch which made the largest contribution commitment of Rs 2.5 crore to IIM-A's efforts of raising a corpus of Rs 250 crore through alumni contributions.

 

While Day Zero of the summer placement process saw large investment banks like Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and Barclays picking up students for internships, Day 0.5 featured companies like Hindustan Unilever, Procter & Gamble, Diageo, Nokia, Coca-cola Citibank, Frost & Sullivan and Anand Rathi from the fields of marketing, general management, consulting and finance offer internships to students.

Other sectors and firms recruiting students for internships included Airtel, Starcom MediaVest, media companies HT Media and Star TV, and first timer Walt Disney in branding and sales and marketing; and Cognizant and Synergy Consulting in IT consulting.
