IIM-A denies rumours of CAT results leakage

BS Reporter Ahmedabad
Denying rumours of leakage in Common Admission Test (CAT) 2015 results, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) which conducted the test this year, on Friday, maintained that the portal was being updated when some students got access to results.

Earlier in the day, on Friday, rumours of some candidates having had access to results through hacking before it was officially declared were doing rounds. Login page of the CAT results portal was also disabled for a brief period, with candidates being informed about results through SMSes.

However, in an official communique, Tathagata Bandyopadhyay, CAT convenor and faculty member at IIM-A said, "Today morning (between 9:00-9:40 am), some students accessed their own results (not others) on the portal during the period the website was being updated, which caused some confusion among students. There was no leakage, no error or hacking of data whatsoever. TCS plugged this loophole immediately."

Bandyopadhyay added that the administration had messaged the total percentile to all the candidates at 1:50 pm. "Candidates can also log in with their ID and password to view their score card," he said in the communique released in the evening.

A computer-based test, CAT saw around 200,000 candidates taking the test in October last year.
