The Indian Premier League (IPL) now has a connection the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A). |
The Delhi Daredevils, IPL's Delhi team which is owned by the GMR Group, has recruited a student of the Post Graduate Programme in Public Policy and Management (PGP-PMP) from the institute to manage its operations. |
Colonel Vinod Bisht, the student, has been hired as assistant vice-president (operations) for the company for a Rs 30-40 lakh package. |
The 45-year-old says the task before him consists of multi-layer management since it involves various stakeholders like the sponsor, the cricketers, advertisers and cricket clubs. |
"Besides marketing, my profile will consist of managing a whole range of events which will unfold in the coming days including events with colleges, schools and citizens," said Bisht. |
Bisht, who had served with the Indian Army for 23 years, will begin working for the team from next week. |
A paratrooper, a national level sailor, and a keen cricket follower, Bisht says his army background, knowledge of sports and training at arguably the best management institute in India stands him in good stead for the role. |
