It's celebration time for experienced students at the Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIM-A), with a total of 103 lateral offers being made to those with work experience of more than 18 months. |
The average salary for the laterals process has seen an increase from Rs 16.2 lakh last year to Rs 18.3 lakh this year. |
The number of students eligible for lateral placements has seen a jump from 89 last year to 112 this year. |
A total of 37 companies participated, including firms from various sectors such as consulting, private equity, real estate, finance, information technology, general management and marketing. |
Some of the leading recruiting firms were Booz Allen, Monitor Group, Google and Amazon. Private equity, niche consulting, technology and logistics made a debut this year. |
Consulting major Monitor Group and private equity player Greater Pacific Capital were some of the big names which recruited exclusively from IIM-A. |
The Aditya Birla Group, Trilogy and HCL significantly increased the salaries offered to students. |
ArcelorMittal, which has generated considerable buzz in the campus, is learnt to have made several offers for East European countries, including Poland and the Czech Republic. |
"Firms have targeted students for specific roles in middle and upper management positions with significant responsibility," said Rohan Mathur, secretary for the student placement committee at IIM-A. |
Final placement week at the institute starts from March 6. |
