Aditya Kumar, a first year student of IIM-C, will be doing his summer training with a non-government organisation (NGO), Solace, in Assam.

Aditya said: "Insurgency, terrorism and the resulting violence is a major problem today in Assam and other north eastern states. As the government tackles this problem, other burning issues get neglected.  As a consequence, the seven sisters of the north east have not been able to keep pace with the development visible in the rest of India. Solace is essentially an initiative to look at these neglected aspects like rural distress, lack of education and child labour."

His dream, at some point in his career, is to contribute to the administration in some capacity, and believes that the internship with Solace will give him exposure that would be invaluable from the point of view of developing his vision.

Aditya's field of work will be the rural areas near Guwahati and in Kamrup district. Aditya intends to use his management skills to find out the cause of rural distress and also examine the feasibility of micro-credit in the area.

Last year, Deepak Dhamija had opted out of summer placements and worked with Basics, an organisation engaged in micro-financing in Vidarbha, Maharashtra.
