The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) has joined hands with HEC School of Management, Paris to offer a double degree programme in management. Both the institutes announced the launch of IIMA-PGP and HEC-MSc in Management Double Degree Programme through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU).
As part of the MoU, students from IIMA and HEC, who opt for the double degree programme, will be able to spend one year each in both Ahmedabad and Paris campuses. While IIMA has received one HEC student, Paul Ricard, under the double degree programme, the institute expects its own students to opt for the programme and visit HEC campus from next year.
"Student exchange under the double degree programme between IIMA and HEC is just the beginning. We look forward to faculty exchange program and research sharing as well in the coming years," said Samir Barua, director of IIMA.
While IIMA has already seen couple of its faculty members teaching at HEC Paris, faculty members from the latter's campus are yet to arrive in IIMA. "Two of our faculty members have been teaching at HEC, of which one has returned after a brief stint," said Barua.According to Barua, the strategic agreement between IIMA and HEC is to foster international understanding, development and partnership by stimulating and supporting educational, professional and cross-cultural activities in the field of management research and education among the students, faculty, staff and business communities attached to the two institutions.
This is the third such double degree programme signed by IIMA, after a similar programme with Essec Business School, Paris and Italian Bocconi University.
