IIMK grads land plum jobs

As many as 423 offers were made to the 133 students of the 2006 batch of IIM Kozhikode. Of the 97 companies that confirmed their participation in the entire placement process, only 47 companies received final offer acceptances from the students. This year 41 new companies joined the IIMK's recruiter list.

The average number of offers this year shot up to 3.18 per student, according to a press release issued by the institute.

"When I joined IIMK, I dreamt of landing a job of my choice. I had never imagined about the many choices, I would eventually end up with," said an overjoyed Raul Sinha, who bagged the highest number of offers this year. Sinha will be joining Lehman Brothers India.

The most sought-after companies are those related to strategy consulting, corporate finance, private equity, investment and merchant banking, equity research, FMCG sales and marketing and analytics.

With 34 offers of more than Rs 10 lakh annually, the average salary went up by 24 per cent from Rs 7.3 lakh last year to Rs 9.02 lakh this year. The median salary stood at Rs. 8.75 lakh annually, the release said.

The highest international offer was at US$ 70,000.

It is likely to be revised upwards when the processes of other foreign recruiters including Singapore Airlines and Petrofac conclude in March. The highest domestic salary on offer was Rs 16.67 lakh, the release said.
