The Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT-K) is set to begin a 1,000 Kw Solar Energy Research Experimental Station (Seres) on its campus. The station will serve the purpose of solar energy development research apart from the pilot project for improving the commercial viability of solar energy generation.
The Rs 18-crore experimental plant will provide free and uninterrupted power supply to six neighbouring villages, Nankari, Bara Sirohi, Singhpur, Bakunthpur, Naramau and Kachchar, which are electrified but power supply is highly erratic.
