Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee received 1,047 job offers through campus recruitments out of the 1,631 students. The institute said that this has broken all the past records. Around 90% of the undergraduate students have got placed at the institute.
"We look at increasing the number in the coming few weeks and the number is definitely expected to increase in the coming years," said the institute in a statement.
In 2013-2014, IIT Roorkee sourced 21 international offers (out of 1,047 for direct recruitment), all students placed in globally renowned companies like Google, Microsoft among others. The highest salary package for international offers stood at Rs 73 lakh, for that of domestic offers made, stood at Rs 32 lakh. Every year a minimum of 20 students get placed in this category.
Out of 692 registered undergraduate candidates with 6 CGPA, 633 national offers and 18 international offers have been made. A total 171 companies/organizations already visited to the campus (till date) for the Campus Recruitment Programme this year and 308 job offers received from the companies/organisations visited for the first time in the campus. Some of the companies are EXL Services, Morgan Stanley Advantage Services Pvt. Ltd, Michelin Tyres Pvt. Ltd. etc
NP Padhy, Prof In-charge, Training and Placement, IIT Roorkee, said, "Ten startups have also visited the campus this year and offered 56 jobs to the students. Some of these include companies like Unbxd, MySmartPrice Web Technology Private Limited, Printvenue.com. This year, a total of 41 companies, those who are expected to visit during next placement session have offered 187 summer interns to the students."
Padhy added that this year, 51 Pre Placement Offers were received by the students from 14 companies based on their performance in summer internship.
"This year extra initiatives have been taken to create more interns through alumni networking so that placement scenario in 2014-15 may attract more pre placement offers and we hope the number of interns may go up to 300 in the next few weeks," the institute said.
Further, core engineering companies like Eaton Technologies Pvt. Ltd. - ETLP, Reliance Industries Ltd, Shapoorji Pallonji Engineering & Construction Pvt. Ltd visited the campus.
